The idea of a free stop over in Iceland on our summer vacation trip to Germany and Croatia came to me when I saw an adveritsement in the subway in Brooklyn. The minute you land in Iceland you feel that you are out of the hectic hustle and bustle of New York City. Immediately you sense a more calm and slow environment. But when nobody official showed up at the airport arrival hall when the suitcase belt malfunctioned and hundreds of suitcases just piled on top of each other we quickly realized that we are not experiencing the calm icelandic way of life but overwhelmed airport personnel struggling with the masses of newly encouraged summer tourists that have been attracted by the same marketing campaign as we were.
